hundred word wednesday – “impotence”

In Hundred Word Wednesdays on August 29, 2012 at 8:44 am

This story is for the folks who always wanted to do something but never did it. It cuts both ways, apparently.

The sun had begun to set, and a chill was in the air. Ryan was walking home from work, as he always did at this time. He kept his head down, noticing sidewalk cracks and bits of trash and leaves. He worked his way home, efficiently and without any sense of novelty.

“Today,” Jack muttered to himself, as he had every day this week. The unassuming man in the scope of the rifle shuffled along, indifferent, following his chosen path as always. “Just do it already.”

His hand shook, his will dissipated, and the self-loathing set in.
