hundred word wednesdays – “winter”

Almost solstice everyone. Celebrate by sharing time with your loved ones, spending an hour or so in solemn reflection, and by having the lights on for longer than most other days of the year probably.

It was winter in a big unfamiliar city and he didn’t speak the language, but he was loving every minute. Exotic smells surrounded him, bizarre musical language filled his ears, and strange drinks literally intoxicated him.

He was quite intoxicated, in fact, when he stumbled into an alley that no tourist was ever meant to find. And in such a state, he was completely incapable of realizing that he was woefully out of place. He heard laughter to his left, and, feeling jovial himself, joined in.

Drunk, surrounded by lowlifes, laughing while snow fell around him, he almost felt free.
