hundred word wednesday – “treetops”

In Hundred Word Wednesdays on August 31, 2011 at 1:07 pm

Oof. Rough one today folks, sorry about that. This one deals about instinct and it does not end happy.

From the tops of these trees, you could see for miles. But Jerry didn’t see any of the broad expanse around him. He was intently focused on a specific branch in front of him, scared to blink.

He knew for certain there was no way he was going to escape this situation alive.

Logically he knew that he would rather spend the moments before his death appreciating the raw beauty of the world. He definitely could have looked up, admired the vista, and smiled his last smile, but he never did. He spent his last moments frozen and terrified.
