hundred word wednesday – “dreams”

In Hundred Word Wednesdays on May 4, 2011 at 3:52 pm

It’s Wednesday again! Here’s a story for ya. It is about earth and fear.

Before being trapped in that lightless cave for days, he had never been comforted to see dust floating in sunlight.  Once he had been rescued, though, all he wanted to do was sit and stare out the window in the afternoon. The rest of the day, he was nervous, anxiously waiting for the afternoon light to drift through the window. Seeing all that earth floating free was the only thing that could calm him any more.

When he slept he had nightmares of nothingness, or dreams of floating, weightless, about three feet above the ground, with his friends floating nearby.
