hundred word wednesday – “king truman finds the grail”

In Hundred Word Wednesdays on December 8, 2010 at 3:27 pm

Wednesday is here, a new computer is put together, and I have written some 96 words for your casual perusal this afternoon. Let’s…let’s just be casual today you guys. Nothing to get worked up about. Just, whatever, alright? Casual.

The grail was just sitting there. After the first few trials, it had been surprisingly easy to find, but that wasn’t quite what was bothering King Truman, descendant of Arthur. It was that, now that he was here, he didn’t particularly care if he got the grail or not. Maybe it was the thrill of the hunt, maybe it was some inherent defensive property of the grail itself, maybe he was just sick of the whole legend thing – whatever it was, it hardly mattered.

“God almighty, what a waste of time,” he thought. “I’m leaving.”

  1. The King stood. The hall of knights rose immediately, armor clattering. The King glanced up at them as he descended the steps of his throne. “I’m going out,” he said.

“We shall accompany you!” the knights roared in unison.

“No. You will remain here,” the King replied, wearily.

“We must protect the King!” the knights retorted, again in unison.

“I’m fine! We have the Grail, for chrissakes. I’m just going out,” the King said angrily.

“It is highly irregular for a King to leave unescorted,” said his advisor.

“King! Out!” the King shouted, and ran for the door.
